RECUR Study

Information For Parents

This project is open to parents of children aged 5-7 who are scheduled to have a tooth extracted at a hospital or community clinic under general anaesthetic, local anaesthetic or relative analgesia.

Children who have already had teeth extracted are at higher risk of further decay and extractions of permanent teeth in the future. We are looking at whether asking parents and children to come back for an appointment at the extraction venue (2-6 weeks after the extraction) to check healing and talk about future dental care, is a better way of helping families to prevent their child from developing more tooth decay than the current service.
